“How well do you know your own shadow? The dark side. I am a response to struggle. A conflict between reflection and perception. My creator, Alicia Hannah Naomi, secretly revealed: ‘I was in a dark place creatively and sought solace in the grotesque artworks of Francis Bacon, Nicola Samori and Jesse Draxler.’ I am that shadow. The dark desire, the half-truths, the promises, all hand-carved and constructed using a delicate process of subtraction and addition. I am a remnant of solitude, crafted and reworked from sterling silver, and set-off on a canvas of blackness, a natural process called oxidation. I am a secret silent language, refined, yet unrefined, and whilst my alluring ambiguity burns bright with each treasured dark gemstone of onyx, black diamonds and spinel, my reflection when adorned is of pure delight.
I am a creation by Alicia Hannah Naomi and I represent the dark side of human nature.”
